Q&A's
About Clayton Chapter

- When do
we meet?
- Clayton Chapter, Order of DeMolay, meets on the 1st
and 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM.
- Where do
we meet?
- We are sponsored by Hampton Lodge # 70
and Meridian Sun
Lodge # 26. We normally meet in the Hampton Lodge building
located at 34 McDonough Street in Hampton, Georgia; but on the 1st
Thursday of every quarter, we meet in the Meridian Sun Lodge building
located on Zebulon Road at Wesley Drive in Griffin (Hwy 155).
- How are
we governed?
- Each Chapter is charted and governed by the Rules of DeMolay
International, located in Kansas City, Missouri. We are also
governed by the Rules of Georgia
DeMolay, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Finally, we have
adopted by parliamentary procedure a set of bylaws that govern our
meetings, dues, standing committees, etc.
- Is there
adult supervision?
- Yes. Each Chapter has an Advisory Council consisting
of three or more adult males that are 21 years of age or older that
review our actions for conformity with the rules and statutes governing
DeMolay. DeMolay International carefully screens these adults and
provides them with extensive training before they are approved as an
Advisor to sit on the Advisory Council. They offer guidance and advice
and help provide a safe and wholesome atmosphere for us. The liaison
between the Chapter and the Advisory Council is called the Chapter
Advisor or Chapter Dad. He sits in on all our meetings. Here at Clayton
Chapter, most of our Advisors have sons that are DeMolay members.
- Whose in
charge?
- Dad Land, our founder, felt that if young men were
given good principles to guide them, wholesome advice from adult role
models and a safe environment to carry out their activities, they would
develop good leadership and social skills on their own. We elect
officers and plan our own activities with only occasional guidance of
our Advisors. We Generally follow activity guidelines developed by
DeMolay International but we have lots of flexibility to make our
activities meaningful to us.
- Can
parents participate?
- Of course! They help us with our fund raisers and,
more importantly, they feed us at our meetings! Our parents are
encouraged to join the Parent's Club. It meets on the same nights as we
do in a different part of the lodge building.
- How long
are the meetings?
- Meetings normally last about 1 to 2 hours depending
on how much business we have to conduct.
- How are
our meetings conducted?
- The business of the Chapter, Advisory Council and
Parent's Club is conducted in accordance with Robert's
Rules of Order. All actions are subject to the Rules of
DeMolay International, Georgia DeMolay and Clayton Chapter's Bylaws.
- How old
do I have to be to join?
- Young men 13 to 21 may join. You may join at the age
of 12 if you have completed the 7th grade.
- How can I
join or find out more?
- Send our webmaster
email and we will be happy to get back to you.
